Saturday’s match-up was already special for Virginia star Michael Kraus. Playing on a neutral field against Vermont, Kraus returned to his high-school field at New Canaan High School. The day got even better when Kraus finished off the game-winner with 1:47 left to seal a big 10-9 non-conference victory for the Cavaliers. “It was pretty cool to come back here,” said Kraus, a sophomore attack for the Cavaliers. “I don’t think many guys get to play, let alone in front of a crowd like this, but at your home field. It was great to get that win. This field is awesome, too. Everybody’s right on top of you. You could feel the energy.”
